Description
A little vaulted alcove - part window, part shrine niche. This piece is a small arched structure: a barrel-vaulted canopy curving over an open portal, flanked by two flat side pillars, sitting on a moulded base ledge with a short peg dropping from the underside. Front and back are open, so light passes straight through the arch - it reads equally as a miniature window surround, a porch canopy or a devotional niche. It is aimed at model-makers and scenery builders. Slot it into a dolls-house facade as an arched window, drop it onto a tabletop-gaming board as a ruined gateway, or use it indoors as a tiny niche to frame a figurine, a tealight or a trinket. The clean architectural lines take stone, plaster or weathered-metal paint effects really well. Print notes: • Print it base-down. The top of the vault is a shallow overhang - most slicers handle it bridge-style, but a couple of light supports under the crown guarantee a smooth arch. • The peg underneath is a mounting spigot: leave it for slotting into a wall or base, or clip it off for a free-standing piece. • Thicker walls and three to four perimeters keep the pillars sturdy; a textured or matte filament hides layer lines under a stone paint job. Print several and line them up for a colonnade or a row of shopfront windows.
