Description
A stout square pillar capped with a smooth sphere — a classic post-and-ball. Shown here as a plain blue render, this is a simple architectural form: a tall square shaft on a stepped square base, finished with a wide flat cap and a large ball finial on top. There is no surface ornament — it is all clean geometry — which makes it a versatile blank. Depending on the scale you print it at, it reads convincingly as a gate post, a garden bollard, a newel post, or a miniature display plinth. Handy for architectural models, model-railway and diorama scenery, tabletop terrain such as estate fences and cemetery gates, or as a small pedestal to stand another figure on. Print notes: • This one is forgiving: flat faces, a broad base and simple curves mean it prints cleanly on almost any FDM machine. • Stand it upright on the base; the only mild overhang is under the cap lip, which a couple of supports or a 45-degree chamfer will handle. • Print a batch at varied heights to build a whole run of matching posts. • Being untextured, it is an easy candidate for adding your own carved panels or house numbers before slicing.
