Description
A crisp architectural post cap, all clean geometry and confident proportion. The model is a square pillar rendered here in solid blue: a straight-sided shaft rising from a stepped, oversized foot plate and finished at the top with a projecting cap that carries a smooth spherical ball finial. The forms are deliberately simple and symmetrical, more the language of gateposts, newel caps and garden piers than of any fussy ornament. The dome-into-sphere transition on top and the twin overhangs at cap and base give it a satisfying, weighty stance even at desk scale. Because it is so geometrically pure, it is genuinely versatile. Print it large as a decorative gate-pier or fence-post cap, at mid size as a newel or bannister topper, or small as a plinth to raise and show off other miniatures and models. A quartet makes tidy bookends or shelf risers. Print notes • Prints flat on the base with zero supports; the ball finial only needs light support if you split and print it separately for a cleaner sphere. • The wide foot resists tipping, but a brim helps adhesion on the small base footprint if you scale it up tall. • Two or three perimeters and 15 to 20 percent infill are plenty for a display piece; go heavier if it will cap a real post outdoors, and choose ASA or PETG for UV and weather resistance. • Sand and fill the vertical faces for a cast-stone look, then paint in stone, bronze or matte black.
