Plakit Book of Life La Muerte

The radiant ruler of the Land of the Remembered, rendered as a build-it-yourself figure. La Muerte is one of the great character designs of modern animation — sugar-skull face, candle-crowned wide brim, a swirling gown drawn straight from Day of the Dead papel picado — and she survives translation into a printed model unusually well because the silhouette does so much of the talking. As a Plakit-style release she arrives as a multi-part kit rather than a single body, which is the sensible way to handle a figure with this much flare and headwear going on. The pieces come together into a display figure rather than a gaming one. A natural centrepiece for a Día de Muertos ofrenda or seasonal shelf, and an obvious target for anyone who paints — few subjects give a decorator this much to work with, and few are as recognisable finished.
