Description

A slender rooftop finial reaching for the sky on a cage of splayed ribs. This blue model is a decorative roof crown — a sharp conical spike at the summit, and stacked beneath it a run of turned baluster shapes: a ribbed onion bulb, a shallow saucer collar, and a pair of rounded urns like spun-brass ornament. From the waist, a skirt of thin curved rods sweeps down and outward, forming an open, lantern-like frame that would sit over a turret peak or gate post. Named as a roofing ("toiture") part, it's an architectural ornament for scale buildings, model railways, fantasy dungeon spires or dollhouse rooftops — the finishing flourish that crowns a tower or pavilion roof. On a wizard's tower or a Victorian bandstand it adds instant vertical drama. Print notes • Print upright, spike pointing up, so the long ribs draw cleanly along the Z axis. • Those thin rods are the challenge: a light tree/organic support with a slim interface, or a raft, stops them wandering — resin handles them best. • Scale carefully; at small sizes the ribs get too fragile to survive cleanup, so thicken them in your slicer if needed. • Prime, then hit it with metallic paint and a dark wash to fake aged wrought iron or verdigris copper.
