Description

Two stone-faced Norse guardians, half warrior and half idol, staring out from beneath horned helms. Shown front and back, each figure is a stout, bollard-shaped carving topped by a stern bearded face — deep-set almond eyes, a ridged helm rising to a point, and a beard that dissolves into tight Celtic-style spirals. One body is incised with an upward arrow rune; the other wears a bind-rune medallion above a fan of carved drapery. They feel like something raised at the edge of a longhall to ward off ill fortune. They work as newel-post finials, mantel or shelf sentinels, weighty bookends, or garden totems flanking a path. Carved as a matched pair, they are meant to face a doorway or frame a threshold. Print notes: • Ideal for 3-axis CNC in oak, ash or a dense hardwood; rough with a ballnose, then detail the beard spirals and eyes with a fine tapered bit. • Equally happy on an FDM or resin printer — stand upright and support under the helm brow and beard undercuts. • Keep the grain running vertically through the body so the slender helm tip does not split. • Danish oil or a limed-wax finish sinks into the recesses and makes the rune work pop.
