Description

Old-world cabinetmaker's flourish, ready to carve. A richly sculpted decorative onlay in the classical style. A scalloped shell fans across the top like a rising sun, a feathered acanthus sprig bursts from its centre, and a pair of tight ionic volutes scroll inward above a tapering teardrop pendant. The whole motif is gathered inside a slender shield, or escutcheon, that narrows to a soft point at the base — the sort of ornament you would find crowning an antique armoire, a fireplace overmantel or a four-poster headboard. This is a relief model meant to be cut, not stood on its own. Feed it to a CNC router to carve into solid timber, or 3D-print it in resin as a glue-on appliqué for furniture restoration and bespoke joinery. CNC / print notes: • Rough with an end mill, then finish the tight scrolls and undercuts with a tapered ballnose for crisp detail. • It looks its best in close-grained hardwoods — oak, walnut, cherry or maple — where the flowing forms catch the light. • For an onlay, sand the back dead flat, then glue and clamp to the workpiece. • Stain, lime-wax or water-gild to finish; a dark glaze wiped into the recesses makes the depth pop.
