Carved Vase Baluster Table Leg

A turned-and-carved leg with a jewel at its shoulder. The upper section swells into a rounded vase form capped by crisp ring collars, and its face carries a small carved medallion — a leaf spray curling around a central button — that breaks up the plain turning with a touch of hand-work. From there the profile narrows into a long, softly fluted taper that drops to a stacked ring foot and a square base block. The square top pad is left uncarved on purpose: that is your joinery surface. It suits a side table, a hall console, a piano stool or a short newel — anywhere a single elegant support does more than four boxy ones. Turn four for a table, or run a matched set beneath a bench. Print / CNC notes: • This is a rotary (4-axis) part — a spinning blank with the leaf medallion carved on one face; a plain lathe alone will not cut the ornament. • Start from a squared hardwood blank (oak, walnut or cherry) sized so the square base and top pad fall on the original faces. • Rough the vase and taper with a ball-nose, then detail the medallion and flutes with a fine tapered bit. • Sand progressively through the turning; the long taper shows every ring, so keep passes light. • Seal the end grain before staining so the base block does not blotch.
