Description

A hand frozen in the act of gripping. Not a mandala at all, this is a sculptural study of a clenched human hand emerging from a square backing block. The fingers curl over in a firm, hollow fist, thumb tucked across the top, with clearly modelled knuckles, nail beds and the soft folds of skin between the digits. Mounted on its flat plinth, it works either as a freestanding relief-on-a-base or as a functional cradle. That cupped grip gives it real utility: it can hold a phone, a stylus, a small bottle, a tealight or a rolled note, turning an anatomy piece into a quietly useful desk object. It also suits art students, life-drawing references and anyone who likes a bit of surreal sculpture on a shelf. Print notes: • Set the block flat on the bed and print the hand rising upward; the underside of the curled fingers will need light supports, which peel cleanly from the smooth skin. • A 0.12-0.16 mm layer height keeps the nails and knuckle creases crisp; smooth PLA or a matte resin both flatter the form. • Print at 100% scale for a paperweight, or enlarge for a bold statement piece. • Finish with a light sand and a stone, bronze or skin-tone paint pass; a bronze rub-buff over dark primer gives it a convincing cast-metal look.
