Description

A blessing rendered in serene, flowing robes. This standing figure depicts a benevolent Chinese fortune deity, an elderly sage with a long flowing beard, kindly smiling face and a scholar's cap, wrapped in richly draped layered robes with wide sleeves and a patterned hem. Cradled in one arm is a chubby, laughing child, a traditional symbol of blessings, fertility and family prosperity. The whole figure rises from a base of curling stylised clouds, giving it the look of a heavenly visitor descending to earth. The drapery folds and the child's rounded features are the sculptural highlights. It suits collectors of Asian art and folk-religion figures, a home altar or feng shui display, a Lunar New Year gift, or anyone who paints and displays statuary. Print notes • Resin captures the fine beard strands, robe embroidery and the child's face best; FDM suits larger, simplified display prints. • Print upright on the cloud base, which gives a broad, stable footprint; add supports under the projecting sleeves, the beard and the child's outer arm. • The overhang where the child meets the chest needs careful support placement to avoid scarring the faces. • Scale up for a shelf centrepiece; a warm stone, jade-green or antique-bronze finish flatters the traditional subject.
