Seated Hound Rock Sculpture

A loyal hound sitting to attention, nose lifted to the wind. This is a full-round animal sculpture rather than the flat panel its tags suggest: a long-limbed dog — feathered coat, slender muzzle and soft drop ears, reading like a setter or saluki type — sits upright on a craggy rock plinth, chest forward and head raised as if catching a scent. The entire coat is worked in fine, flowing chisel-like strokes running from the crown down the back and along the forelegs, giving it the look of a hand-carved wood or stone figure. It makes a warm mantel or shelf piece, a heartfelt gift for a dog lover, or a decorative carving for a study or hallway. Cut large in hardwood on a rotary CNC it becomes a real statement carving; printed, it is a handsome desk companion. Print notes: • For CNC, a 4th-axis rotary setup suits the full-round form — rough with a ballnose, then a fine finishing pass to bring up the fur texture. • For FDM or resin, print upright on the base and support the chin, chest overhang and tail area. • The deep fur grooves take a stain or wash beautifully: flood a dark wash, then wipe back to lift the carved texture. • Scale to taste, but keep the slender forelegs thick enough to stay sturdy at small sizes.
