Double-Headed Imperial Eagle Plaque

A double-headed eagle, wings flung wide, crowned three times over. This is a deep-relief CNC carving in the grand imperial-heraldry tradition. Two eagle heads face outward from a single body, each screeching skyward beneath a trio of jewelled crowns topped with crosses. Broad feathered wings sweep out to fill the panel, a central shield bearing a radiant star rides on the breast, and the talons clutch a sceptre and a cross-topped orb — the classic regalia of sovereignty. Scrolling acanthus foliage anchors the whole composition at the base. It is designed as a statement wall plaque or overdoor centrepiece — the kind of ornate carving that suits a study, a bar, a collector's cabinet or a themed interior. The strict bilateral symmetry and layered feather depth make it a genuine showcase piece for a mid-to-large router. CNC notes: • Cut from a close-grained hardwood such as oak, walnut or lime, or a dense modelling board, to hold the fine feather and crown detail. • Rough with an end mill, then finish with a tapered ball-nose bit; the crowns, star and beak barbs are the tightest areas and want a small stepover. • The design is mirror-symmetrical — you can machine one half and mirror the toolpath to halve carving time. • Sand lightly, then a dark stain wiped back, or a gilt highlight on the raised feathers and crowns, really makes it read.
