Description

A weighty commemorative medallion cast in the language of Soviet-era militaria. The circular relief carries a raised Cyrillic motto around its rim and, at its heart, a border-guard insignia: a peaked-cap soldier shown in profile within a shield, flanked by a burst of radiating star points, topped by the old state coat of arms, with an upright blade and banner detailing framing the figure. The whole piece is modelled as deep, layered relief — concentric raised rings, crisp lettering and a stepped central badge — the sort of thing that reads as struck bronze once finished. This is a collector's and enthusiast's item: a historical military commemorative plaque, paperweight or wall medallion for someone who collects insignia or has a connection to the theme. It's a decorative design piece rather than an official badge. Making it • Lots of fine, shallow lettering means detail is everything — CNC it with a fine engraving bit, or FDM at 0.12 mm layers, face-up and support-free. • Set your deepest cut at the ring channels so the concentric borders stay cleanly separated from the raised centre. • The Cyrillic text sits proud of the field; a light finishing pass keeps the character edges sharp rather than rounded. • A dark antiquing wash wiped back off the high relief gives it that aged-bronze medal look and makes the soldier and lettering stand forward.
