Acanthus Crest Crown Ornament

A leafy plume that crowns whatever it tops. A symmetrical carved crest built from acanthus foliage: a plump central bud rises like a fountain, framed by feathered leaves that sweep outward and curl into snail-shell scrolls at each tip. Low and wide in proportion, it is the classic centre ornament that sits at the top of a cabinet crown, a door header, a mirror pediment or the middle of a mantel frieze. It arrives as a 3D relief for making, not a standalone print — happiest under a router bit or as a resin appliqué glued to furniture. CNC / print notes: • Rough the outline and cavities with an end mill, then chase the leaf veins and scroll centres with a fine tapered ballnose. • The flowing, undercut leaves shine in hardwood — maple, walnut or tulipwood — while MDF is fine for a painted or gilded finish. • For an onlay, keep the back flat, then glue and clamp; check the carved height so it does not overpower the piece it decorates. • Antique it with a dark wax pushed into the recesses and buffed off the high leaves for depth.
