Medusa Greek-Key Wall Roundel

The gaze that turns men to stone, ringed in a river of Greek key. This circular wall plaque centres on a serene, symmetrical Medusa: a calm classical face framed by a wild mane of writhing, snake-like locks, with a pair of small wings sweeping up from the brow. Around her runs a bold, continuous meander (Greek-key) border, and a little ribbon tab crowns the top as though the medallion hangs from it. It's the instantly recognisable Hellenic, Versace-style motif, rendered here in confident deep relief. This is a natural statement piece — a hallway or living-room wall medallion, a plaque over a bar or fireplace, or a moulded centrepiece. The high relief and open meander make it read dramatically under raked lighting. Print notes: • On the CNC, cut from a fine-grained hardwood; the face wants a fine ball-nose finishing pass, while the geometric border cleans up nicely with a smaller tapered bit. • The deep hair undercuts benefit from a rest-machining pass to reach between the locks. • 3D printing? Lay it flat and print face-up at 0.1–0.12mm; supports are minimal since it's a one-sided relief. • Finish with a gilded wax over a dark base to mimic aged bronze, or leave it in bare walnut for an understated look.
