Double-Headed Eagle Law Emblem

A commanding double-headed eagle, wings flung wide and dripping with imperial ceremony. Two crowned heads stare left and right beneath a large central crown linked by a trailing ribbon. The spread wings fan out feather by feather in deep, layered relief, and across the breast sits an ornate cartouche: a fluted column topped with its own small crown and banded with lettering, standing for law and authority. Crossed behind the shield are a straight heraldic sword and a bundled rod, with more foliage spilling below the tail. From crown to claw it is a dense, high-relief piece with real carved depth. This is a heraldic showpiece — a wall plaque or panel for a study, office, library or entrance hall where a formal coat of arms sets the tone. Its strong silhouette also makes it a striking single-colour ornament mounted above a door. Cut / print notes • This is a true 3D relief: rough with an end mill, then finish with a 1–2 mm tapered ball-nose to resolve the feathers and crown jewels. • It machines best in a tight, even-grained hardwood or dense MDF; expect a slow finishing pass given the fine plumage. • Printing instead? Resin captures the feather detail best — lay it face-up, support the wing undersides and crown spikes, and hollow the back to save material. • Fill the deepest recesses with a dark glaze, then dry-brush gold or bronze over the raised feathers for an antique-metal look.
