Description

A dense commemorative crest packed with paratrooper symbolism. At the crown a domed parachute opens with clearly ribbed canopy panels, the block letters riding across its skirt. Below hangs a five-pointed star pierced by a central ring, and behind it two slim aircraft cross at the shafts. Sprays of oak leaves and laurel fan out to either side, and at the foot a small helmeted paratrooper descends beneath his own canopy on a bordered shield. A ribbon banner scrolls across the bottom carrying the airborne motto, split across three furls. It is built as a deep, multi-layered bas-relief plaque — a wall piece for a study, a veteran's gift, a commemorative display or a themed den. Cut notes: • This is a genuine relief carve, so plan for several Z-levels between the raised parachute and the recessed background. • Rough with a larger end mill, then switch to a fine tapered ball-nose for the canopy ribs, leaf veins and the tiny figure. • A small V-bit cleans up the lettering on the banner and the emblem across the parachute. • Carve in a close-grained hardwood so the fine detail survives, then a stain-and-wipe or dark wax sunk into the recesses will make the relief pop. • It prints well too — orient face-up and support nothing but the deepest undercuts.
