Imperial Double-Headed Eagle Plaque

A double-headed imperial eagle, wings spread and every feather picked out. This is a deep-relief plaque built for the router: two crowned eagle heads face outward beneath a larger central crown, their wings fanning to the edges in layered, overlapping plumage. In the talons sit a mace and an orb, and across the breast a heraldic shield carries a crowned column with the Cyrillic word ЗАКОНЪ (‘Law’) — the whole emblem reads as a formal coat of arms in the Russian imperial style. It is a showpiece carve, made to be seen. Cut it as a statement panel for a study, an office, a lodge or a collector’s wall, or scale it down into a plaque or trophy face. The dense feather detail and crisp lettering are exactly what make it worth cutting in a good hardwood and finishing dark. CNC / print notes • High-detail relief: run a fine ball-nose (1–2 mm) on the finishing pass to hold the feather barbs and the shield text. • Tight-grain woods — maple, beech, lime/basswood — or dense modelling board keep the small crowns and lettering clean; open grain will blur them. • A stepped roughing pass first saves finishing time given the depth between the wings and the recessed shield. • For resin or FDM, sit the flat back on the bed and print face-up; a light dark wash over a gold or bronze base makes the raised feathers pop.
