Grizzly Bear Paw Medallion

A brooding brown bear stares straight out from the middle of its own paw print. Forget the lattice-and-tray tags: this is a circular wall medallion carved in deep relief. A naturalistic grizzly head fills the centre — furrowed brow, deep-set watchful eyes, broad muzzle and a shaggy ruff of fur that flares outward in ragged locks. Behind it, raised from the dished disc, sits a giant bear-paw silhouette: a big central pad with claws radiating toward the rim, so the animal appears to emerge from the track it left. It reads instantly as lodge, cabin and hunting-country decor — a plaque for a study wall, a man-cave, a porch, or a chunky coaster if scaled down. The fur is the challenge and the reward. Because those locks undercut sharply, a CNC finish wants a small ball-nose bit and patience through a slow finishing pass; walnut or oak suit the subject and take the shadow well. Prefer to print it? Lay it flat and face-up — resin will hold the individual fur strands far more crisply than FDM, though a fine-nozzle FDM job at 0.1mm is passable. Add a keyhole slot or a couple of recessed magnets on the reverse for hanging, and prime before any stain or paint so the deep grooves read cleanly.
