Description

A Cold-War-era badge blown up into a deep carved wall plaque. The relief recreates the Soviet Young Pioneer emblem: a youthful profile of Lenin facing left, set inside a five-pointed star whose surface is filled with fine radiating sun-ray lines. Three curling tongues of flame rise from behind the head, and a ribbon banner sweeps across the base carrying the Cyrillic slogan 'ВСЕГДА ГОТОВ!' — 'Always Ready'. The carving is confident and high, with the face and flames standing well proud of the rayed field so the shadows do the dramatic work. It is a piece for collectors of Soviet history, re-enactors, or anyone furnishing a themed bar, study or display cabinet. Sized up it makes a bold plaque; scaled down it becomes a paperweight or magnet blank. Cutting notes • Ideal in a close-grained hardwood such as beech, lime or maple that holds the crisp ray lines without tear-out. • Rough with a larger end mill, then finish the face and flame folds with a small ball-nose for the rounded modelling. • Switch to a fine V-bit for the banner lettering and the star's engraved rays. • Antique it with a dark stain wiped back off the high points, or gild the raised areas over a red base for the authentic enamel-badge look.
