Winged Eagle Sunburst Wall Relief

A proud eagle bursting out of a fan of radiating rays. This deep relief centres on an eagle with its wings thrown fully open, every layer of feathers individually carved from the fine coverts at the shoulders down to the long primaries at the tips. The head turns to one side with beak parted, the breast juts forward, and the tail feathers spread beneath the talons. Behind it, a broad sunburst of pointed and rounded rays radiates outward, with a bank of stylised clouds gathered at the base to ground the whole heraldic composition. It makes a commanding wall centrepiece: a gable or pediment ornament, an over-door plaque, a bar or study feature, or a patriotic and memorial-style display piece. CNC notes: • This is a high-relief carve; rough with a larger bit, then finish the layered plumage and ray tips with a fine tapered ball nose for the feather separation. • A stable hardwood such as lime, oak or walnut carries the deep undercuts best; MDF suits a painted or gilded finish. • Expect a long finishing pass because of the feather density, and clear chips often around the wing detail. • Bronze or gold wax over a dark base makes the raised feathers and rays really catch the light.
