Mariner's Compass Ship's Wheel Plaque

A compass rose set into a ship's wheel — north, south and every point between. The relief centres on a sharp eight-point compass star, its long primary rays crossed by shorter intercardinal spikes, all rising from a riveted, dial-marked ring engraved with fine tick divisions. Making it • On a router this suits a tapered ball-nose finishing pass — the star tips and raised lettering want a small stepover to keep edges crisp. • For FDM, print face-up on the bed so the compass points and rivet dots resolve cleanly; a flat-backed plaque needs no supports. • The deepest cut is the gap between the star and the dial ring — set your Z depth there first so the layered rings stay distinct. • Finish with a dark wash rubbed back off the high points to make the star and lettering pop against the recessed dial.
