Description

An imperial eagle throws its wings wide beneath a crown of victory laurel. This CNC relief is built as a round medallion with a moulded hanging loop at the top, so it reads equally as an award medal, a pendant or a small wall token. At its centre a broad-winged eagle stands square to the viewer, head turned in profile, every wing feather carved in stepped rows. Its talons grip a bold five-pointed star that breaks forward from the background, and the whole figure is framed by two sweeping laurel branches that rise from the base and almost meet at the crown — the classic language of honour and triumph. The style leans imperial and military, closer to a Napoleonic standard eagle than a naturalistic bird. It suits commemorative plaques, club or event-trophy faces, medallions, or a decorative roundel mounted on a box lid or cabinet door. Print notes: • Cut face-up so the router can reach into the deep recesses between the laurel leaves and under the wings. • Rough with a larger end mill, then finish the feather detail and star edges with a fine tapered ball-nose bit. • Hardwoods such as oak, walnut and maple hold the crisp feather steps best; seal before staining so the recesses don't blotch. • Prefer 3D printing? Lay it flat, print the loop as part of the body, and a 0.12 mm layer height keeps the plumage sharp.
