Five-Point Star Medal Plaque

A hero's award rendered in carved relief. This piece depicts a classic military-style medal: a plain rectangular suspension bar, a smooth ribbon plate framed by raised borders, with a small loop beneath carrying a bold five-pointed star. The star is faceted, each arm split into two bevelled planes so light catches it from every angle and gives the finished carve real depth and shine. Cut it as a commemorative wall plaque, an awards-cabinet centrepiece, a re-enactment prop, or a decorative trophy for a study or games room. The blank ribbon bar is a gift in itself: leave it clean or engrave a name, date or regiment to personalise the award. CNC notes • Machine in a tight-grained hardwood such as maple, beech or lime to hold the star's crisp facets. • Rough with a 6mm end mill, then finish the bevels and loop detail with a 1 to 2mm tapered ball nose. • Keep it shallow-relief for a wall panel, or deepen the Z for a proud, sculptural star. • Sand lightly, then gild with gold leaf or metallic wax and buff for a struck-medal gleam.
