Celtic Knotwork Rosette Medallion

A woven knot caught inside a ring of petals. This circular medallion is built around an interlaced centre where two squares, set on the diagonal, thread over and under each other to form an eight-pointed star with a clean square window at its heart. True basket-weave logic runs through every crossing; nothing simply overlaps, it genuinely passes above and below. Around that core sits an open outer band studded with alternating trefoil fleurons and slim oval buds, the whole thing pierced clean through so light and shadow play across the back. It suits a cabinet-door centre, a bed-head roundel, a ceiling boss or a standalone wall rosette, and the Celtic flavour makes it a natural fit for rustic, gothic or folk interiors. Print and CNC notes • As a pierced panel, plan through-cuts with holding tabs so the waste between the weave doesn't shift on the last pass. • A 2-3mm end mill handles the knot bands; drop to a fine bit for the trefoil detail. • 3D printing instead? It lays flat on the bed and prints support-free, ideal for a paint-and-gild finish or a two-tone antiqued look. • Scale it up as a table centrepiece or down for drawer-front medallions.
