Six-Arm Star Scroll Medallion

A carved wheel of scroll and bloom. This CNC relief is a circular medallion built around a crisp central star, with six curling arms that each end in a little ringed finial, all wrapped by a plump border of stylised petals and buds. It reads like something lifted from a cathedral screen or an antique cabinet door — symmetrical, deep-cut and unmistakably hand-carved in feel, even though a router does the work. It suits furniture makers dressing up a wardrobe, headboard or door panel, sign makers wanting a decorative centrepiece, or anyone routing a wall roundel to hang as art. Cut notes • Designed as a relief tile: flatten it onto stock and machine from a single face. A rounded ballnose (3–6 mm) will carry the curved scrolls; drop to a fine tapered bit for the star and ring details. • Run a roughing pass then a fine finishing pass — the negative pockets between the arms are where clean depth really shows. • Looks richest in a close-grained hardwood (oak, walnut, beech) or MDF sealed and gilded; the border petals catch light and throw the shadow that sells the depth. • Scales cleanly from a 120 mm rosette up to a 400 mm feature panel; keep proportional depth so the star tip doesn't get lost.
