Foliate Ring Scroll Roundel

A carved roundel where a delicate foliate ring cradles a single flourishing motif. This is a circular decorative relief — the kind of ornament that turns a plain cabinet door, headboard or wall panel into something with a touch of old-world craftsmanship. The outer band is a repeating garland of leaves and berry clusters, looping around the rim in even, rhythmic swags. At the centre sits a slender, mirror-symmetrical figure: two curling scrolls topped with pierced round eyes that open downward into a spray of tapering tendrils, like a stylised blossom or an elegant sea-creature caught in ornament. The open negative space between ring and motif keeps the whole piece feeling light rather than heavy. It suits period furniture restorations, feature doors, bed frames and framed wall medallions, and reads equally well in oak, walnut or painted MDF. Cut / print notes • Sized for CNC relief routing: a 60–90° V-bit for the fine tendrils and pierced eyes, with a ballnose for the rounded leaf modelling. • Rough with a larger endmill, then run a fine finishing pass to keep the scroll edges crisp. • In hardwood, mind grain direction on the thin tendrils to avoid tear-out; a light climb pass cleans the edges. • Equally printable as a 3D relief — orient flat, no supports, then prime and add a dark wash to bring out the depth.
