Description

A round wall medallion built from a swirling pinwheel of crescents inside a berried wreath. The heart of the roundel is a rotating knot: broad, crescent-shaped arms sweep out from a small central boss and curl into one another, so the eye keeps travelling round the circle — the curvilinear triskele-and-lauburu kind of swirl you find in Celtic and Basque ornament. Around it runs a raised ring carved with paired leaves and little clustered berries, spaced evenly like a laurel garland, with four small florets marking the compass points. It hangs as a standalone medallion over a door, at the head of a stair panel, or as a matched pair either side of a mantel; smaller copies make coasters, cabinet-door centres or box-lid inlays. The full circular symmetry means it looks right from any angle, so it also suits a ceiling rose or the centre of a turned lazy Susan. Print notes: • The deep channels between the swirl arms are the signature; finish them with a small ball-nose bit so the crescents stay crisp and rounded. • On FDM, print flat and face-up — no supports — at 0.12mm to keep the interlace smooth. • Machine the wreath berries last with a fine detail pass; they're small and easy to over-cut. • A dark stain wiped back off the high points really pops the swirl against the recessed ground.
