Folk Geometric Lattice Roundel

Part folk talisman, part geometric puzzle, carved into a single tidy roundel. The centrepiece is an interlocking square-and-diamond lattice: a small diamond floats in the middle, framed by a square, with stepped bracket arms reaching out to the four sides and little diamonds nesting in the corners. The whole geometry is built on clean mirror symmetry, giving it a woven, maze-like look with crisp open voids between the bands. Wrapping it all is a beaded ring border of paired leaf-and-bud lobes, softening the sharp interior with a floral wreath. It has a rustic, Slavic-folk flavour that works well as a wall medallion, the centre of a cabinet door, a chest lid or a bespoke coaster/trivet feature. The contrast between the geometric core and the organic border is what gives it character. CNC notes: • STL supplied for routing; the pierced interior reads best when the recesses are pocketed to a consistent depth against a solid backing or contrasting board. • Use a small-diameter flat bit to keep the lattice corners sharp, then a ball-nose for the rounded border lobes. • Staining or painting the recessed field a darker tone makes the raised bands pop. • Prints flat as a relief too — ideal for casting or a lightweight painted wall piece.
