Description

A whirl of six carved blades inside a garland of buds. This round openwork medallion pairs a decorative outer ring — a repeating chain of little paired leaves and rounded buds — with a hypnotic centre: six broad, curved arms spiralling out from the middle like a slow turbine or a stylised whirlpool. The negative space between the arms and inside the ring is cut clean through, so mounted against a contrasting wall or backlit the pattern resolves into pure light and shadow. It is built for CNC routing as a wall rosette, a cabinet-door insert, a ceiling centre or a decorative grille. The swirling core lends it a sense of motion that a static rosette never quite manages. Cutting & printing • Treat it as a through-pocket and profile job: rough the openings, then finish with a small ball-nose to round the raised ridges of the swirl. • Because it is openwork, hold the stock with tabs or a vacuum bed so the freed centre cannot shift on the final pass. • It prints well too — lay it flat, decorated side up, no supports; a wood-fill filament and a stain make it pass for carved timber. • Mount it on a dark backing board to make the pierced pattern jump forward.
