Description

Saint George at the very moment the dragon falls. This high-relief panel captures the classic legend: an armoured knight on a rearing horse drives his lance down into the coiling dragon beneath the hooves, a banner streaming from his shoulder and a plumed helm framing his face. The carving is richly detailed — you can trace the scale-mail of the horse's barding, the layered lamellar armour, the braided horsetail and the ridged, serpentine dragon writhing along the base. It's a dramatic, sculptural composition with strong depth from the raised rider down to the recessed background. Designed for CNC relief carving and decorative panels, it suits a fireplace overmantel, a heraldic wall plaque, a church or heritage commission, or a statement piece for a study. The bold silhouette also reads well as a painted or gilded feature. Print / CNC notes: • Route with a roughing pass then a fine tapered ball-nose (2mm or less) to resolve the mail texture, banner folds and dragon scales. • Dense hardwood or a tight MDF holds the undercut detail; avoid coarse-grained softwoods that tear on the fine ridges. • In resin, angle the panel and support the overhanging lance and horsetail. • A brown glaze wiped into the recesses and buffed off the highlights gives an instant aged-bronze look.
