Native Archer Bas-Relief Plaque

A hunter frozen at full draw — arrow nocked, string taut, eyes fixed past the tip. This is a richly detailed bas-relief bust of a Native American archer, carved to sit proud of a flat backing panel. He wears a soft leather hood with two eagle feathers tucked behind the band, his long hair falling in carved strands, and a fringed buckskin garment whose leather tassels hang in a sharp row along the outstretched arm. In his fists is a stout recurve bow, the limbs ridged as if wrapped with sinew, a broadhead arrow drawn back level with his cheek. The modelling is genuinely deep — cheekbones, knuckles, the folds of the sleeve and the twist of the bowstring all cast real shadow, which is exactly what makes a relief like this sing on a wall.
