Description

A winged warrior descends from the clouds, sword drawn and shield raised. This deep-relief panel depicts an armoured archangel, most likely Saint Michael, caught in a dynamic guardian pose: a crested, plumed helm framing youthful features, one hand gripping a short sword across the lap, the other lifting a round buckler skyward. Great feathered wings fan out behind him while billowing drapery and a rolling cloudbank carry the figure aloft, the whole composition sculpted to stand proud of a flat backing. It suits a devotional wall plaque, a carved headboard centrepiece or a statement panel above a fireplace, and the sweeping diagonal of the sword gives it genuine movement on the wall. Rout it in a hardwood such as oak, walnut or lime, or mill it in dense PU tooling board for a paint-and-gild finish. CNC notes: • A true 3D relief: plan a roughing pass with a large end mill, then a 1-2 mm ball nose to catch the feather barbs and facial detail. • The undercut wings and drapery reward a 4th-axis or steep finishing strategy; on a 3-axis machine, orient the deepest folds toward the tool. • Sand progressively from the high cloud forms down into the recesses. • Wax or gild the raised armour so it catches the light against the shadowed clouds.
