Description

The profile of an ancient hoplite, frozen mid-stride into battle. This CNC relief captures the side view of a warrior's head sheathed in a Corinthian-style helmet the almond eye-slit, the sculpted nose guard sweeping down over the face, and the cheek plate curving past the jaw. Above it rises a magnificent arched crest, its ridge scored with fine parallel lines to suggest stiff horsehair, then trailing into loose strands that stream out behind as though caught in a gust of wind. Cut into hardwood, this makes a striking wall plaque for a study or man-cave, or anywhere a nod to Sparta, Troy or Greek mythology belongs. It also works as a decorative door or gate appliqué, or the centrepiece of a headboard. Carve / print notes: • As a V-carve or 3D relief, use a fine tapered ball-nose bit (1-2mm) for the crest striations and eye detail; a larger bit clears the background field fast. • Oak, walnut or maple take the fine hair lines cleanly tight-grained timber avoids tear-out along the flowing plume. • If 3D printing instead, lay the relief flat with the back face on the bed no supports, and the sculpted side up for the best surface finish. • Rub a dark oil or wax into the recesses to throw the raised helmet forward against the field.
