Young Hunter and Gun Dog Plaque

A warm sandstone bas-relief of a young hunter at rest beside a loyal gun dog. Carved in shallow-to-mid depth against a softly graded background, the scene is built on a strong triangular composition: the kneeling figure at the apex, one hand laid gently on the back of a large seated hound, the other steadying a long, slender sporting gun that rests barrel-up along the right edge. Folds of a cloak, the dog's alert posture and the sculpted ground all give the panel real depth and story. This is a wall plaque rather than a freestanding figure — the flat back and integrated border are made to hang. It reads as a countryside or field-sports keepsake, at home in a study, lodge or den. Print / CNC notes • On a CNC router, cut in a close-grained hardwood (lime, cherry, walnut) with a roughing pass then a fine ball-nose finishing pass to hold the facial and fur detail. • For resin or FDM, print face-up and flat; a 0.08–0.12 mm layer keeps the eyes and hand crisp. • Sand lightly, then wax or wipe a dark glaze back into the recesses to pop the relief. • Add a keyhole slot or picture wire to the reverse for hanging.
