Madonna and Child Devotional Panel

A tender Madonna and Child, carved in deep devotional relief. Despite the plain code on its label, this file is a religious wall panel: the Virgin Mary cradles the infant Christ against her shoulder, both figures ringed by soft halos. Her face is calm and downturned, the baby nestled in a draped robe, one small hand reaching toward her cheek. Framing the pair are hanging sprays of bell-shaped foxglove blooms down each side and a single rosette flower tucked into the lower corner, all worked in high, rounded relief against a flat rectangular ground. The piece is built for display rather than play. It suits an icon corner, a mantel, a chapel or prayer nook, or a christening or confirmation gift, and reads equally well 3D printed or CNC-carved into hardwood. Print notes • Orient face-up on the bed so the deepest cuts around the halos and drapery resolve cleanly, and skip supports on the flat back. • Resin captures the eyes, lips and fingers far more sharply than FDM; if printing filament, use a 0.12mm layer and a small nozzle. • For CNC, basswood, lime or a tight-grained oak holds the fine bloom detail; rough with a large ballnose, then finish with a 1–2mm tapered bit. • Give the recessed background a light wash or dark glaze and wipe the raised faces back to lift the whole scene into contrast.
