Flower-Crowned Maiden Oval Plaque

A serene woman crowned with blossoms, surrounded by doves, butterflies and a hidden nest of eggs. This oval bas-relief plaque is a romantic garden portrait. A young woman gazes softly to one side, her long hair flowing and interwoven with roses and leaves, a jewelled tikka and beaded necklace catching the light. To her side a dove lifts off with spread wings while butterflies drift up beside it; at the base, a pair of small songbirds tend a nest of three eggs among full-blown roses. The whole scene is carved in shallow, tender relief inside a smooth raised oval border, so shadow does all the storytelling. It makes a lovely wall medallion, headboard centrepiece, jewellery-box lid or keepsake gift for a wedding, anniversary, Mother's Day or new baby — the nest motif gives it a quiet "new life" symbolism. CNC notes • Very fine facial and feather detail: use a 1-1.5mm tapered ball-nose for the finishing pass and slow the stepover right down. • A modest relief depth (8-12mm) is plenty; the drama comes from crisp edges, not deep cuts. • Cut in a pale, tight-grained wood (maple, pear, lime) so the face reads cleanly, or dense MDF for painting. • Seal before any wash or gilding to keep detail sharp in the recesses.
