Smiling Sun Face Wall Relief

A beaming sun with a human face, ringed by tongues of curling flame. At the centre sits a full, round face — heavy-lidded eyes, a soft snub nose, plump cheeks and a wide contented smile — the kind of folk sun that has watched over doorways and garden walls for centuries. Radiating outward are two staggered rings of rays: short pointed spikes close to the face, then long flame-like tongues that twist and flick at their tips, giving the whole disc a slow sense of rotation. The modelling is rounded and generous, with deep shadow pooling between the rays so the piece reads clearly from right across a room. It works beautifully as a wall plaque for a patio, porch or conservatory, or as a warm focal point above a mantel. Finished in weathered gold, verdigris or terracotta it takes on a Mediterranean, boho character. Print / carve notes • Best run as a single-sided relief, face-up on a flat panel — there's no need to model a back. • The undercut flame tips will want a few supports on an FDM or resin printer; on a CNC router reach into the valleys with a tapered ball-nose bit. • Sand the cheeks and brow smooth for that soft-skin look, and leave the rays lightly tooled for contrast. • Scales cleanly from a 120 mm trinket up to a 600 mm statement piece.
