Description

A brooding island guardian, distilled down to a single serene face. This model is a stylised Moai — the monumental stone head of Easter Island — reworked as a tall relief bust. A wide cylindrical topknot (the pukao) caps the crown, then the form drops into a long, tapering face with a heavy angular brow, deep almond eye sockets and slim horizontal eye slits that read as calm and watchful. The elongated nose runs almost the full length of the jaw before the whole shape narrows to a rounded chin at the base. There is no clutter here — just clean planes and a strong vertical silhouette that drinks in raking light. It suits collectors of world-culture and archaeology pieces, and works equally well milled as a wall relief plaque or cut deeper as a freestanding shelf sculpture for a study, mantel or hallway. Line a few up for a totemic row along a bookshelf. Print notes: • Carve or print vertically so the topknot and brow land as intended; on FDM lay it face-up with the flat back on the bed to dodge overhangs. • The recessed eye slits and nostril shadows reward a fine finishing pass or a small ball-nose bit for crisp edges. • Scales cleanly from a 60mm desk piece to a 300mm statement carving without losing the facial planes. • Finish in weathered basalt grey or a sandy volcanic tone, then dry-brush the high edges to fake centuries of erosion.
