Carved Cabriole-Leg Dining Table

A Louis-XV silhouette rendered in full: cabriole legs, a scrolled apron and a soft ripple of carving across the front rail. This model is a classically proportioned dining or centre table with real period cabinetmaking character. The apron carries a central carved cartouche of interlaced acanthus scrolls, offset above it by a short beaded ribbon, and the rail bows gently outward before flowing into four sweeping cabriole legs. Each knee is finished with a carved leaf ear and each leg tapers to a slim, slightly flicked foot — the whole stance light and stag-legged rather than heavy. The top is left plain so you can veneer, inlay or leave it clean. Making notes • For CNC, separate the model into parts — flat apron relief, the leg profiles and the top — and machine each on its own axis; the deep acanthus pocket wants a fine tapered ball-nose for the finishing pass. • Printing whole? Orient legs vertically and add tree supports only under the knee overhangs to protect the carved rail. • At 0.12mm layers the scrollwork on the apron stays legible even at 1:12 dollhouse scale. • Prime and sand the cabriole curves before painting; a walnut or gilt-edge finish flatters the period lines. Duplicate and rescale it as a template for a matching console or side table to build a whole suite.
