Description

An urn of flowers caught in a cage of scrolls. This tall, slender onlay is built around a fluted footed urn brimming with narcissus and star-shaped blooms, set on a turned baluster stem. Sweeping acanthus scrolls rise symmetrically on either side, meeting in a looped ribbon at the top and curling into paired volutes and a small dropped finial at the base — an airy, openwork composition that feels distinctly Georgian and neoclassical. It is a decorative appliqué for the centre of a cabinet door, a headboard, an overmantel, a long-case clock or a wardrobe panel — anywhere a vertical accent wants to draw the eye upward. The open scrollwork also looks striking simply mounted on a painted wall. Print notes: • On the CNC this is a shallow-relief onlay: rough with a 3mm ballnose, finish with a 1mm ballnose or tapered ball to reach between the leaves. • The thin scroll tips are fragile — cut with holding tabs and part them free by hand, or 3D-print flat on the back face with a brim. • For 3D printing, lay it flat, print support-free, and glue to the substrate; a light sand knocks back the layer lines before paint. • Finishes beautifully in cream or off-white with a raw-umber glaze rubbed into the recesses to lift the detail.
