Description

A wide, symmetrical spray of blooms and curling leaves — a header ornament made to run along a top rail. This horizontal onlay centres on a full open flower with a domed button eye, flanked by two smaller five-petal blossoms and framed left and right by unfurling acanthus leaves that scroll into neat rolled volutes at each tapered end. The composition is mirror-symmetrical and sits in low-to-medium relief, designed to run above a door, drawer or panel and lead the eye across. It is ideal as a furniture crest or cornice ornament — the kind of long, slim carving applied above wardrobe doors, along headboards, over mirrors or as a fireplace overmantel detail. The open, airy layout means it works on both narrow rails and broad panels. Print notes: • Orient flat with the relief facing up; the flat back glues straight onto the workpiece. • On CNC, rough with an end mill then finish with a tapered ball-nose to reach the leaf undercuts and the flower centre. • The scrolled end volutes are the thinnest sections — feed gently there to avoid chipping in hardwood. • For FDM or resin, 0.1–0.12 mm layers hold the petal detail; no supports on the flat base. • Fill and sand the background before painting or waxing so the raised motifs stand clear. Stretch or compress it in CAD to fit your rail length before cutting, and balance the piece within a run of moulding.
