Description
A ribbon of curling scrolls to run along an edge and never quite end. This is a length of decorative border moulding: a slim, framed strip filled with a repeating S-scroll motif, each curl rolling into the next like a breaking wave or a row of fiddlehead ferns, tucked between two plain raised rails top and bottom. The pattern is drawn to tile seamlessly, so you can butt copies end to end and carry it as far as a project needs. It's the kind of trim that lifts furniture and joinery — the crown of a cabinet, a mirror or picture surround, a door panel, a fireplace frame or the cornice of a jewellery box. As a printed applique it glues straight onto a flat face; routed into hardwood it becomes an integral carved band. Making it • Repeat-tiling is the point: model your run as whole multiples of the tile so the scrolls meet cleanly at every join. • On the CNC, a small ball-nose bit gets right into the tight inner curls — take a light finishing pass to avoid tearout in figured timber. • Printing flat on the bed, pattern up, needs no supports and gives the sharpest scroll detail. • Prime and gild, or stain to match existing woodwork, and finish the whole length together so the seams between tiles vanish.
