Description

A little bouquet caught in timber: two full-blown roses sit at the centre of this decorative appliqué, cradled below by a pair of inward-curling acanthus scrolls and flanked by open daisy rosettes and pointed leaves that fan up and outward. It is a dense, high-relief cluster — much deeper and busier than a plain scroll onlay — built symmetrically so it centres neatly on whatever it dresses. Makers reach for a piece like this to lift a furniture apron, a drawer front, the centre of a headboard or the crest of a mirror. It carries a soft, romantic, shabby-chic character that pairs well with painted and distressed finishes. Print / CNC notes • Expect real depth here — a ball-nose finishing pass at a fine stepover is what pulls the layered rose petals into focus. • Use a steep tapered bit to reach into the tight valleys between leaves and blooms. • Cut in a dense hardwood or PU tooling board; the flat reverse is designed to glue flush to the workpiece. • Prints cleanly in resin as a paintable applique — a wash of colour into the recesses really shows off the flower layering. Scale it up for a statement centrepiece or shrink it for a jewellery-box lid; the balanced composition holds either way.
