Description

An ornate, rope-framed panel that arches away into a decorative bracket. This square relief is packed with dense, mirror-image acanthus scrollwork. Twin fan-shaped leaf blooms unfurl at the top, their curling tendrils and berried scrolls interlacing down toward a small foliate finial at the centre. The whole design is contained by a twisted-rope moulding that frames all four sides, and the bottom edge sweeps up into a wide arch, leaving two scrolled feet at the corners — so the piece doubles as a bracket, apron or valance rather than a plain flat plaque. It suits period furniture and joinery beautifully: a crest above a headboard or cabinet, a corner apron under a shelf, a decorative overpanel for a clock or mirror, or an architectural onlay on a door. The arched underside means it sits happily over an opening. CNC notes • Cut as a deep relief; the design has real layering, so allow enough Z depth to separate the foreground scrolls from the pierced-looking background. • Rough with a ballnose, then chase the tight interlaced curls and rope twist with a fine tapered ballnose or V-bit for clean recesses. • Hardwood or dense MDF holds the rope border and leaf tips best; watch grain across the thin scroll feet at the base. • Finish with a dark wax or paint-and-wipe glaze to sink shadow into the deep channels and lift the raised acanthus.
