Description

One unbroken ribbon, folded again and again into a shimmering lattice of loops. This relief carves an elongated interlaced knot in the endless-knot tradition, built from a single continuous double-grooved band that threads over and under itself the whole way down. Rounded loops crown the top and trail off the bottom, while the busy middle stacks a tidy grid of woven crossings. Every strand carries twin parallel channels, so the light rakes along a double edge and the flat panel reads far deeper than it is. It's a natural symbol of continuity and connection, which makes it a thoughtful centrepiece above a bed, a mantel, or a doorway. Cut it as a hardwood wall hanging, a layered inlay against a contrasting veneer, or a raised motif on a cabinet door. The design suits both a warm oak and a dark walnut, and it takes a metallic wax beautifully if you want the bronze look shown here. Print / cut notes: • Model the strand relief with a tapered ball-nose bit so the rounded ribbon keeps its soft crown; a 3mm ball does the roughing, a 1mm handles the crossings. • Watch the over/under junctions — leave a hair of extra depth on the lower strand so the weave stays legible after sanding. • If 3D printing instead, lay it flat face-up and print with fine layers; no supports needed, and a light sand plus gilding wax mimics the render. • Seal end grain before waxing so the grooves don't drink finish unevenly.
