Rococo Floral Medallion Centrepiece

A rolling medallion with vines that reach right across the piece. At the centre of this long onlay sits a round medallion filled with a baroque swirl, curled leaves and a plump bud folding around one another inside a thin raised ring. Out of that hub, matching vines arc left and right: each carries a curled leaf, thin looping tendrils and a scatter of round seed-pods on stems, before flaring into a big feathered leaf at the outer tips. It's a lively, restless-looking flow held in perfect mirror symmetry, with the relief lifting highest at the central roll. Long and low, it's made to run across a wide surface, above a doorway or archway, along the crest rail of a headboard, or centred on a long sideboard or blanket chest. CNC notes: • Those near-free-standing tendrils and pods are delicate, so keep the stock well-adhered and cut them last. • A 3mm and a 1.5mm ball-nose pairing captures both the medallion roll and the fine stems. • Watch for thin cross-grain spans; a hardwood or dense MDF resists snapping better than softwood here. • Deburr the undercuts by hand, then seal before painting or gilding.
