Description

A single sweep of acanthus, heavy with a bunch of grapes. This is a decorative drop in full baroque spirit. A broad, fleshy acanthus leaf furls over on itself at the top, its edge rolling into a deep scroll, while a plump cluster of round grapes tumbles down one side — each berry modelled as a smooth sphere that catches the light. Below, a slender S-curved tendril tapers to a fine point and finishes with a small bead, the sort of flourish that gives the ornament movement and stops it feeling static. It is carved in high relief on a flat back, made to be applied rather than viewed in the round. Use it on furniture — the corner of a cabinet door, the apron of a table, a headboard — or on a mirror frame, mantel or picture surround. A mirrored left/right pair frames an opening handsomely. Print / carve notes • Orient relief-up on the flat back; the grapes are the tallest features, so expect to support their undersides on a printer. • On a CNC router, rough with a large ball-nose, then detail the grape separations and leaf veins with a fine tapered bit. • Fill and sand the flat back before gluing for a seamless join to the surface. • Prints happily in wood-fill PLA or resin; scale to suit the piece it decorates.
