Description

A slender turned post banded with carved leaves. This is a decorative column: a long, gently barrel-tapered spindle carrying three rings of ornament, a leafy collar at the top just below the cap, a matching collar at the foot, and a central band where two rows of stylised acanthus or water-leaf meet around a beaded, rope-like ring. Between the carved zones the shaft is left smooth and softly swelling, so the ornament reads as crisp accents against clean turned wood. It works as a staircase baluster, a table or console leg, a bed post, a newel or a standalone decorative pillar, and a row of them makes a balustrade or a plinth gallery. The full symmetry means it looks right from every angle. Cut / print notes • Ideal for a CNC lathe or 4th-axis rotary setup: turn the profile first, then index the carved collars with a ball-nose. • On a flat 3-axis machine you can cut it as two half-round halves and glue up. • As a 3D print, stand it vertically; the round body needs little support, but add a brim for stability and clean the seam lines on the smooth shaft. • Beech, oak and maple turn cleanly; scale the length and diameter to your baluster or leg spacing.
