Description

An L-shaped flourish of acanthus that turns a right angle with ease. This corner onlay runs a tall spray of scrolling acanthus up one side, drops through a full-faced daisy rosette at the inner corner, then flows out again along the base in a mirrored sweep of curled leaves and rolled volutes. Every leaf is deeply undercut, with combed veining along the blades and tight snail-shell curls where the scrolls close — a proper Baroque corner rather than a flat silhouette. It is made to frame things: mirror and picture frames, cabinet door panels, headboards, bed frames and overmantels. As a single corner it mirrors neatly, so a set of four dresses a whole rectangular panel. Cut notes • This is one handed corner; mirror the toolpath to make its opposite, and machine four to close a full frame. • The deep undercuts and rolled tips want a small tapered ballnose for finishing; leave onion-skin tabs so the delicate scroll ends don't tear loose. • Orient the grain along the longer leg to keep the thin scrolls strong. • Carve in a fine hardwood for crisp veining; a coat of sanding sealer stops fuzzing before you wax, stain or gild. Also reproduces well as a resin or FDM appliqué for lighter decorative work.
